Politics is as American as apple pie and is a right of first importance to our citizenship. However without some correct understanding that the Christian’s citizenship is in heaven, we tend to make government into an idol by attributing to it more importance  and power than it deserves. Government is not our source, God is. However what could be called “gospeltics” has become the art of combining our own political beliefs with Gospel truths in order to have the appearance that God approves, thus giving our opinions more importance and authority than they deserve. To keep the proper balance we should heed the Word in 2Tim.:3,4, “Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs, he wants to please his commanding officer.”
